Nigeria: Zamfara Warns Christians Against Converting Homes to Churches

Gusau — The Zamfara State Government has appealed to Christians in the state who converted their houses to churches to reverse the action and follow the legal procedure.

The state commissioner for Lands and Housing, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad Nasiha, made the appeal today while presiding over a meeting with churches representatives in his office.

Alhaji Hassan Nasiha, expressed government concern over the attitude of some people who convert residential buildings to churches.

He said the purpose of the meeting was to ensure mutual understanding between Muslims and Christians community in the state.

The commissioner called on Christians to always channel their requests on the issue through his ministry and assured of assistance to secure land for religious purposes.

He reminded Christians on the need to consider the meeting as a forum aimed at ensuring peaceful coexistence.

To this end, a seven-man committee has been constituted by the state ministry of lands and housing to look into the issue of churches in the state capital, Gusau.
