Nigeria: Christians Berates Politicians Over Crisis

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Katsina state branch, has berated politicians in the country whom they described as responsible for any trouble that has bedevilled the nation.

CAN Chairman in the state, Rgt. Reverend Joseph Kwasu, who is equally the Bishop of Katsina diocese said the politicians have always usec religion is the country to foment trouble in their bid to achieve their selfish aim.

At a press conference at the Catholic Church Katsina, the Bishop called on both Christians and Muslim is the state and the nation in general to resist any attempt by politicians to use them against one another.

He added that Christians in the state have promised to be law abiding and loyal to constituted authorities in the state.

The Bishop stressed that people of Katsina have never engaged themselves in any civil strife in the name of religion; he therefore called on Nigerians to emulate the peaceful existence that is the hallmark of the state.

The chairman thanked the state government for its tireless effort at ensuring the continued peaceful coexistence in the state.

In his remark, chairman of the Christian pilgrims board, Habu Mani urged Nigerians to be their brothers keepers and forget about any differences that could bring about a breakdown of law and order.

The briefing was organised by CAN as a result of the recent OPC/Hausa clashes in Lagos, which left hundreds dead.
