Cameroon: Dramatic Victory for Yaounde

11 February 2002

Cameroon bagged this year's African Cup of Nations title when they beat Senegal 3-2 in a penalty kick shootout yesterday.

The win made the Indomitable Lions join Ghana and Egypt as the only four-time winners of the continental cup.

Cameroon had knocked off hosts Mali in their semis match on their way to the finals while Senegal humbled Nigeria's Super Eagles. The Eagles won a consolation victory over Mali on Saturday to take the third position.

Both Senegal and Cameroon will feature in this year's World Cup finals in South Korea and Japan.(ACONS)
