Lagos — Nigeria's Super Eagles, despite winning the third place match against hosts, Eagles of Mali 1-0, failed to turn up at the presentation ceremony at the March 26 Stadium in Bamako as the 23rd African Nations Cup came to a close last night.

P.M.News observed that of all the 22 players that were listed by Nigeria for the championship only three of them, defenders, Joseph Yobo, Eric Ejiofor and goalkeeper, Ndubuisi Egbo received their medals on the podium alongside the team's coaches and officials.

Team co-ordinator, Barrister Nwabufor Obienu was however, on hand to receive the medals on behalf of the truant players, some of whom are Nwankwo Kanu, skipper Sunday Oliseh, Austin Okocha and winger, Finidi George.

Although, it was difficult to ascertain the reason behind the players' unpleasant action, it is believed that most of them might have made an early departure to their various clubs in Europe.(ACONS)
