ZAMBIA has not had any of its players selected among the best 11 of the just ended Africa Cup tournament won by Cameroon.
The list of the best 11 players released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has been dominated by West African players. The players were picked by an 11 member jury formed of the members of the CAF and FIFA Technical study group preparing the technical Report of the tournament.
The players were also selected by CAF Media committee members. On the list is Senegalese goalkeeper Mario Sylva who plays for Monaco in France.
South Africa's Zuma Sibusiso (FC Copenhagen, Denmark), Nigerian West Taribo (Kaiserslautern, Germany), Cameroonian Rigobert Song Bahanag of Germany side Cologne and Nigerian Udeze Ifeanyi who plays for Paok in Greece. Other players are Ramzy Hany (Egypt/ Kaiserslautern, Germany), Keita Seydou (Mali/ Lorient, France), Saifi Rafik (Algeria/ Troyes, France).
The rest of the 11 members are Mboma Patrick (Cameroon/ Parma, Italy), Julius Aghahowa (Nigeria/ Shaktar, Ukraine) El Hadji Diouf (Senegal/ Lens, France). The best reserves are Alioum Boukar Cameroon/ Samsungspor, Turkey), Jaidi Radhi (Tunisia/Esperance), Geremi Njitap Cameroon/ Real Madrid, Spain), Alassani Diao (Senegal/Sedan, France) Bassala Toure (Mali/Athinaikos, Greece), Hazem Emam (Egypt/Zamalek). Zambian players Elija Litana and Harrison Chongo were after the 1994 contest voted the Best Central defenders in Africa.(ACONS)
