The United Nations World Food Programme has started distributing emergency food to rural areas where people are faced with starvation while the Grain Marketing Board is speeding delivery of maize for those who can buy.
The WFP has already delivered one-month's ration of maize-meal to 40 000 people in Hwange, Matabeleland North.
