Monrovia — The adage that "anything the mind can believe and conceive, it can definitely achieve" was recently demonstrated by Liberia's foremost sports photographer, Ahmed T. Jallanzo, who was part of a conglomerate of international photo-journalists and photographers at the 23rd African Cup of Nations finals held in Mali from January 19 to February 3, 2002.

Ahmed T. Jallanzo, popularly known as "ACTION IN THE LENS" recently sponsored his own trip to Mali to cover the 23rd African Nations Cup finals. Being that he was self-sponsored, he got in Mali after the opening match had kicked off between Liberia and Mali, but was quick to obtain his accreditation from CAF Secretariat. The process leading to his accreditation was facilitated through the kind courtesy of his friend and dear brother Siebo Williams of The NEWS Newspaper.

When Ahmed got in gear to work, he did not get discouraged over the equipment he was using as compared to that of his international compatriots, but proved his prowess as the man known as "ACTION IN THE LENS" in Liberia. His sharp photos quickly caught the attention of most of the players attending the games, to the point that he was asked to stay behind in Mali to continue his coverage of the games despite Liberia's elimination in the first round.

Ahmed T. Jallanzo is the first Liberian sports photographer to ever cover the finals of the Nations Cup in its history. In most instances we bring you reports on players and athletes who compete at these international games, but we find it expedient at this time to bring you how Liberia's foremost sports journalist fared at Mali '2002 Nations Cup finals. Below are few photos taken by Ahmed T. Jallanzo, alias "ACTION IN THE LENS" in Bamako during the grand final match between Cameroon and Senegal. We hope to continue to bring you more photos on the rest of the Nations Cup as will be provided by the man "ACTION IN THE LENS".(ACONS)
