Rwanda: 'Nteziryayo's Relatives Did Not Want Me to Tell the Truth,' Witness Claims

Arusha — A prosecution witness in the so-called "Butare Trial" today told judges at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) that imprisoned relatives of genocide suspect Alphonse Nteziryayo urged him not to tell the truth when called to testify before the tribunal.

The witness -- identified only as "QBV" -- is also detained in Rwanda on genocide charges. He has confessed to taking part in killings during the April-June 1994 genocide in Rwanda, and is awaiting his sentence.
