South Africa: Gambling Needs Efficient Regulations, Says Erwin

Pretoria — The gambling industry needs an effective regulatory system to balance public concerns such as addictiveness and abuse with its socio-economic benefits, says trade and industry minister Alec Erwin.

Taking note of the risk that gambling could be addictive, Mr Erwin said government legislated that the regulators had a responsibility to encourage and ensure that there was responsible gambling.
