Johannesburg — MALEGAPURU Makgoba, the president of the Medical Research Council, and Essop Pahad, the minister in the presidency, yesterday played down their apparent war of words over an alleged intimidation campaign waged by the government against Makgoba because of his HIV/AIDS views.
According to recent reports in The Economist and The Guardian, Makgoba accused Pahad of orchestrating a number of threatening letters, including one that had been signed by Limpopo premier Ngoako Ramatlhodi.
