Nigeria: Senate Committee Frowns At Condition of Airports

Senate committee on Aviation investigating the EAS aircraft crash in Kano has indicted the executive arm of government for the poor condition of airports in the country.

Addressing a press conference at the end of its sitting in Kano, the chairman of the committee, Senator Idris Kuta, said over N1 billion was approved by the National Assembly in the 2000 Budget for the rehabilitation of Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt airports, but regretted that the work only commenced this year after pressure from concerned authorities.
