Johannesburg — THERE was a gradual improvement in SA's savings environment last year, but savings did not improve, falling as a percentage of gross domestic product to 15,2% from 15,5% in 2000.
The SA Savings Institute said corporate savings were probably the biggest detractor from the overall savings level, falling from 12,8% in 2000 to 10,7% in 2001 as a percentage of GDP.
