South Africa: Floor-Crossing Proposal Not Enough - NNP

Durban — Proposed constitutional changes under discussion in Parliament, that would allow MPs, MPLs and local councillors to defect to other parties without losing their seats, was not enough, New National Party MP Piet Matthee said in Durban on Wednesday night.

Addressing a political forum debate arranged by the Democracy Development Programme he said the changes, once enacted, would still leave MPs, MPLs and councillors beholden to party bosses and not the electorate.
