FORMER Zimbabwe Newspapers group managing director, Mr Mathews Kunaka and finance director, Mr Phibion Gwatidzo have joined hands in a new chartered accountancy firm launched last year.
Gwatidzo & Company Chartered Accountants started operating in March 2001 providing accounting, auditing and consulting services to small and medium sized enterprises in Southern Africa.
"Our Vision is to be the leading accounting and auditing service provider to SME's in Southern Africa," says the partner in charge, Phibion.
A devout Christian and father of two, Mr Gwatidzo said the accounting firm's mission is to glorify God in the provision of accounting services. "We will enhance stakeholders value while giving customers value for money. We value integrity, faith, people and teamwork."
The company has a core team of full and part time professional associates who include managers with vast experience in auditing and accounting in the big five firms.
It currently consists of five departments, which include audit, financial management services, executive placements, client service, human resources and administration.
Phibion has had over 10 years post qualification experience as a Chartered Accountant. He has worked in auditing, budgeting and planning, financial management, corporate finance and business management.
He served his articles at Deloitte & Touche. He has worked for Coca-Cola Central Africa, Coca-Cola Northern Africa, Universal Merchant Bank and Zimbabwe Newspapers as Group Finance Director. He served as Chief Executive Officer for Migdale Investments. He is currently the Senior Partner in Gwatidzo & Company Chartered Accountants.
Mr Matthews Tichaona Kunaka joined the partnership in April this year after resigning from the Independent Media Group where he was group chief executive officer.
Ticha qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 after serving articles at KPMG Peat Marwick where he worked for 10 years, spending the last three and half of those years in KPMG's London office with the management consulting division of the firm.
Besides a B.Acc (Hon) degree from the University of Zimbabwe he also holds an MBA specialising in finance from the University of Delaware, USA, obtained in 1986, an MSc in Strategic Management from the University of Derby, United Kingdom, obtained in 2000.
Ticha has worked for Chibuku Breweries, OK Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) Limited and Independent Media Investment Holdings (IMG). He brings to Gwatidzo & Company a wide variety of expertise and experience.
A devout disciple of Jesus Christ, Ticha is married to Ellen and they have three children.
