Nigeria: FG Releases Funds For Salary Increase In Federal Polytechnics

Kaduna — THE Federal government has released about N1.09 billion for the implementation of the 22 per cent salary increase for staff of federal polytechnics in the country.

The money has been disbursed to the 17 federal polytechnics as personnel grant commencing from May 2002.The implementation of the salary increase has brought the salaries of the staff of the federal polytechnics at par with their counterparts in the universities.

According to a statement from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) signed by its protocol and public relations officer, Malam Abdulahman Alfa, the objective of the salary increase was to remove disparities between the federal polytechnics and universities in Nigeria.The amount disbursed to the polytechnics are as follows:Kaduna Polytechnic N205,800,00, Yaba College of Technology N94,390.120, Federal Polytechnic Auchi N95,041,913, Federal Polytechnic Idah N49,961,664, Federal Polytechnic Bida N65,100,000, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi N55,125,315, Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti N64,079,497.Others are Federal Polytechnic Ilaro N53,331,983, Federal Polytechnic Oko N75,064,556, Federal Polytechnic K/Namoda N34,379,158, Federal Polytechnic Nekede N53,105,428 and Federal Polytechnic Unwana N42,632,480.

The remaining ones are Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa N44,550,508, Federal Polytechnic Mubi N40,685,378, Federal polytechnic Offa N48,146,462, Federal Polytechnic Ede, N35,529,155 and Federal Polytechnic Damaturu N33,390.000.
