Nigeria: IG's Counter Corruption Squad Arrests 92 Policemen for Extortion

THE inspector general of police, Mr. Tafa Balogun's anti-corruption crusade has continued to yield dividend as a total of 92 policemen and vehicle inspection officers were arrested on highways at various locations between June 15 and 21, 2002 for extorting money from members of the public.

This was disclosed in a statement in Abuja, yesterday and signed by Haz Iwendi (DCP), force public relations officer.
