Nigeria: Abuja Priest Held Over Sex Abuse in US

Lagos — The sex abuse scandal that is rocking the Catholic Church in the U.S. has caught up with a Nigerian priest who has been charged with the rape and sodomy of a parishioner a couple of years ago.

According to an account of the incident reported in the U.S. media weekend, Rev. Father Cyricus Udegbulem, a priest of Orlu Diocese who came to serve in Brooklyn Diocese, New York in 1998, reportedly raped a woman on New Year's Day in 2000 when she came to seek advice on how to annul her marriage.
