Nigeria: Deputy Governor of Lagos Quits

Lagos — Strong indications emerged yesterday that the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, may have finally made up her mind to forgo her office in order to fight Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2003 gubernatorial election.

Sources close to the deputy governor's office told P.M.News that Bucknor may resign from office anytime from now to begin preparations to contest for the post of governor of the state in 2003.
