Nigeria: Bauchi Hoteliers Seek N800m Loan

Major hoteliers and liquor dealers have requested for N800 million loan from Bauchi State government to enable them change their businesses in compliance with Sharia law. The Chairman of the Association of Hoteliers and Liquor Dealers in the state, Chief Patrick Anyanwu, made the request in a meeting with the Bauchi State Sharia Commission in conjunction with the state's Poverty Alleviation Agency at the weekend in Bauchi.

Anyanwu said the request became necessary as there were over 120 registered major hoteliers and 350 beer parlours in the state and "each of them has over ten staff on their employment."
