Lagos — The Rector, Yaba College of Technology, Mr. Olubunmi Owoso has charged Nigerian professionals and corporate organizations to show interest in the training of young men and women in the nation's higher institutions.
Owoso, who received the President, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Mrs. Adebimpe Balogun and her entourage in his office recently, said professionals should ensure the development of youngsters who would take over the mantle of leadership from them in future.
He also enjoined corporate organizations to invest in technological education by way of providing infrastructural facilities and by instituting scholarship awards, donating books and so on.
Owoso congratulated the CITN president for creating awareness on the activities of the institute and especially for counting it worthy to enlighten Yabatech students on the benefits of specializing in taxation as a course.
The Accountancy Department of YABATECH, he said, had won the commendation of many professional organizations. The Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) has officially acknowledged the excellent performances of the College students at it's yearly professional examinations. Mrs. Balogun said her visit was part of the institute's effort to let Nigerians see and know the mission of the institute.
She said that Nigeria would be better off if more attention is paid to the institute.
