The Minister for the Presidency, Prof Gilbert Bukenya, on Tuesday flagged off the World Food Programme (WFP) relief food distribution to 24 re-organised internally displaced persons' camps (IDPs) in Gulu.

Bukenya promised that the Government would provide security to IDPs in Gulu, Kitgum and Pader districts.

The programme, that should have been officially re-opened at Awer IDP camp, was carried out at Kaunda Grounds in Gulu municipality.

Bukenya had earlier held two security in Gulu over the merging of IDP camps from 32 to 21 in Gulu. Camps in Kitgum and Pader would also be merged, he said.

He said the merging made it easier to manage them. Butao said 122 primary schools were being served with meals but LRA attacks on schools had marred the exercise.
