Nigeria: Abacha's Plea to Stop Re-Arrest Vexatious - Government

THE Federal Government yesterday described as speculative, frivolous and vexatious Alhaji Mohammed Abacha's application before a federal high court in Abuja seeking to restrain it (FG) from re-arresting him in the event of his release at the instance of a bail granted him by an Abuja high court.

At the resumed hearing of the suit, counsel to the federal government, Mr Faance Bebu told the presiding judge, Justice Binta Murtala Nyarko that at the time Abacha filed the suit there was no basis for the applicant to suspect that he would be re-arrested.
