Zimbabwe: Bob Marley Continues to Touch People's Hearts 20 Years After

WHAT better way to close the proceedings of what has proven to be an absolutely wicked month, than paying tribute to a legend of reggae? Channel O gives its viewers a chance of seeing Bob Marley's last chant In Concert on 29 August.

A hero and an icon whilst living, Bob Marley continues to touch the hearts and minds of people 20 years after his death, influencing, among others, Sade and Lauryn Hill. There are numerous little details about the man that have contributed to his mythic status . . . one famous example was when he believed so strongly that his Rastafari faith was the source of his strength and he refused to have his cancerous toe amputated. In his lifetime, Marley continued to tour the world, making music that dazzled and delighted fans but tragically his life was soon to be cut short by illness and he died on 11 May, 1981 in a Miami hospital. His death was internationally mourned and thousands of supporters and fans attended his 21 May funeral to pay their last respects.
