Zimbabwe: Mangwana-Tshuma to Face Disciplinary Committee Over Utterances

JAMES Mangwana-Tshuma, the Highlanders chairman, will appear before the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) disciplinary committee tomorrow for utterances he made after the match between Highlanders and Dynamos on 28 July which was marred by violence.

Tshuma is being accused of bringing the game of football into disrepute by his statements. The chairman alleged, in statements published in The Chronicle and The Herald, that the appointment of referees by the referees committee was being made in a way that would prejudice Highlanders. The Dynamos match was handled by seven-time Referee of the Year, Felix Tangawarima. Tshuma was also quoted in the Press as saying Zifa must not interfere in the investigations of the violence to be conducted by the PSL. Arthur Choga, the Zifa communications manager, said the Zifa disciplinary committee would be in Bulawayo today where Highlanders are set to appear before them tomorrow.
