Nigeria: Court Upholds Josephine Anenih's Party Status

An Abuja High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Usman Kusherki, has dismissed an application by Mr. Tony Mgbojikwe, the Imo state leader of the People Democratic Party (PDP), seeking to restrain the wife of the Works and Housing Minister and PDP women leader , Chief (Mrs) Josephine Anenih and 18 others from parading themselves as members of the party's National Electoral Appeal Panel for the state.

Delivering the ruling, justice Kusherki stated that he based his action on the authority of the case of Onyeson Vs Unebedun (1992) 3SCNJ pages 145 at 155. According to him, upon hearing the application of A.A. Izinyon (SAN), counsel for the defendants, praying the court to discharge the order, the judge said the application lacks merit.
