In a dimly lit store at the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi, members of Namuke Women's Group settle down to work on a wall mat. The mat gradually takes shape in their talented hands. A visitor to their work place will notice their team spirit as they turn hyacinth, the weed that has been the nemesis of activities in fresh water masses in the country, into high quality mats, carpets, and hand bags. The Namuke women are employees of the museum who learned weaving three years ago and are transforming the dreaded weed into art during their spare time.
