Uganda: Museveni Adopts Ex-LRA Child

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has said he would adopt Alice Auma, a 13-year-old former rebel, who surrendered to the UPDF in Gulu town last week.

The President is also reported to have agreed to look after John Bosco Ojok, 23 and Benjamin Kinyera, 22, of Pajule sub-county in Pader district who surrendered with Auma.

The three escaped from Kony captivity with some guns and handed them over to the Uganda People's Defence Forces in Gulu district.

"I will adopt Alice and take her to my home as my own child. For the other two boys, I will look after them," the President reportedly said in a meeting with the Acholi Parliamentary Group members on Monday.

The meeting at the 4th division headquarters in Gulu was reportedly attended by the three former captives who later dinned with Museveni and APG members.

Museveni assured them that the Government would protect them and provide for their necessary needs. Ends
