Nigeria: Alozie Stripped of European Title

Lagos — Nigerian-born Glory Alozie has been stripped of the gold medal she won at the European indoor championships last March in Vienna because she was not eligible to compete for Spain at the time, the European Athletics Association (EAA) said yesterday.

Alozie decided to switch her allegiance to Spain in July last year but the Nigerian Athletic Federation refused to release her to compete for her new country until June 22 this year, the EAA said in a statement.
