A total of about 400 US and Uganda soldiers and civilian personnel are set for a grant demonstration exercise on disaster management manoeuvres in Soroti.
The exercise on Thursday, will involve personnel from the two armies, the Uganda Police Force and officials from the ministries of health, works, water and disaster preparedness.
The demonstration exercise will be the climax of a two-weeks training course conducted by the two armies.
The course aims at building capacity to manage disaster.
The training, code named Medical Flag is currently conducted at the Botanical Beach Hotel, Entebbe and in Soroti Hotel.
The public relations officer of Med Flag, who is also the deputy director of information in the UPDF, Capt. Felix Kulayigye, told The New Vision on Friday that the two groups will join on Thursday for the demonstration.
"What is being taught here is disaster management of whatever nature be it earthquakes, plane crash or other accidents," he said.
"On the Thursday, we shall have a joint demonstration exercise to practice the theories," Kulayigye said.
He said the course was being facilitated by military, medical and disaster management experts co-ordinated by the 3rd Airforce under the US army..
