Kenya: Evangelist Fails to Turn Up

Thousands of Christians were yesterday disappointed after world renowned evangelist, Dr Morris Cerullo, failed to turn up at a crusade scheduled for Nairobi's Uhuru Park.

The crusade had for the past two weeks been advertised prominently in the media, attracting hundreds of people from within and outside the city.

Dr Cerullo was expected to preach to thousands of Christians of various denominations at a day-long crusade at the Uhuru Park grounds.

The park was jammed as early as 9 am with Christian faithful who had brought their sick relatives, some on wheel-chairs to receive healing prayers.

Instead, Canadian preacher, Peter Youngren, presided over the crusade, after conveying greetings and a brief message from Dr Cerullo.

"Dr Cerullo passes his greetings, he's well, fine and with you in the spirit," Youngren said,

"He asked me to go to Abidjan, Dar-es-Salaam and Nairobi and I told him it was impossible to make it to Nairobi because I was preaching in Nakuru. I had to charter a special plane to make it here, and I'm going back to Nakuru right after this message," he added.

A few disappointed Christians walked off as soon as they realised Dr Cerullo was not coming to minister to them.
