Kampala — Government yesterday dismissed last Sunday's demonstration against President Museveni in South Africa as irrelevant.
Presidential Press Secretary Mary Karooro Okurut said Museveni is committed to peace in the north and that is why he instituted a peace team last month.
"The president has been in the north for more than one month and will continue going there, whereas the demonstrators have been living in the safety of other cities," Karooro said in a statement.
The statement said whereas it is a right for people to hold a peaceful demonstration, such a demonstration should be on relevant issues.
Karooro was reacting to yesterday's Monitor story about the demo by some 100 members of Uganda Democratic Awareness Campaign.
