Lubango — Eight children under nine years old died of measles over the last 20 days in Quihita village, Chibia district, in Angola's Southern Huila province, following a new outbreak there.
Ambrosio Chitanda, Chibia's deputy Administrator, said these deaths are part of 15 cases of measles registered there by the local health directorate.
He added that the health authorities are runing out of medicines and other means to treat and prevent the illness, through vaccination.
On his turn, the Health Provincial Director, Oscar Isalino, said that a team with the sector will work in the locality to assess the situation and outline the actions to be carried out.
