Kampala — Luweero LCV Chairman Hajji Abdul Nadduli has advised Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala against going to the north to mediate in the war.
He said the cardinal would return empty handed.
The LRA recently demanded that for any peace settlement to be achieved, Wamala should be listed in the negotiations between Lord's Resistance Army and the Movement.
But Nadduli told The Monitor in Soroti Hotel Thursday that Wamala's involvement as demanded by the LRA is uncalled for and the prelate should not be 'foolhardy' and accept to fly to Gulu for talks.
"Kony can never be talked to and he needs to be dealt with militarily," said Nadduli.
"I don't buy the idea of our cardinal travelling to Acholi to negotiate with thugs where he might need an interpreter since he is not fluent in Acholi. So I advise him not to go there," he added.
"If Wamala has to go to Gulu it should be after the Acholi bishops have invited him but such negotiations should take place in Gulu town where there is maximum security and the bandits should be ready to attend," Nadduli charged.
Lt. Col. Walter Ochora the Gulu LCV Chairman who was also attending the conference was non-committal.
"We've come to map out strategies for combating HIV/AIDS so let us stick to that, " he said.
