Uganda: Shun Idols, Christians Told

Kampala — Mukono Diocese Bishop Rt. Rev. Eria Paul Luzinda has said worshipping idols is the major cause of the increasing cases of child kidnap and human sacrifice in the district.

He was Oct. 5 confirming 48 pupils of Vicentalex Boarding Primary School in Mukono Town Council.

He said people who go to shrines to worship animals and chicken are told to offer sacrifice and they end up killing innocent people for love of material things.

He decried the increasing rate of moral decadency and atrocities saying that the situation deserves serious attention from government.

He said it was unfortunate to see the district which used to be a model deteriorate into a leading crime area with the highest number of cases of human sacrifice, child kidnap, rape, defilement and bestiality.

He called upon parents and teachers to work tirelessly and instil in their children the spirit of love.

He advised people to shun the shrines and evil spirits saying this was the major source human suffering and poverty.

He condemned the inhuman act of Bendict Seruwo of Nagojje sub-county a man who reportedly exhumed a dead body of child and ate.
