Uganda: EU Still Waiting for O'toole Murder Probe

Kampala — The Delegation of the European Union (EU) Commission in Uganda is still waiting for an independent inquiry into the March 22 murder of the former parish priest of Panyangara, Rev. Fr. Michael Otoole Declan.

The EU head of delegation, Ambassador Sigurd Illing, said on Thursday evening they were still waiting for the promise by President Yoweri Museveni to set up a probe into the murder and subsequent prosecution and execution of two UPDF soldiers over the matter.

Sigurd said his delegation met President Museveni at Murulinga camp in Moroto district in April this year.

"Much as the president did not indicate that he would set up an independent probe, that is how we interpreted him," Sigurd said in an interview at the Skyline Hotel in Kotido town.
