Nigeria: Amina Lawal's Case On M-Net

Lagos — Internaltionally renowned talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey, has joined the ever growing list of public spirited individuals campaigning for a reprieve for Amina Lawal, the Nigerian woman sentenced to death by stoning by a Sharia court for having sex outside wedlock and having a child more than nine months after her marriage collapsed.

Oprah's crusade will follow the usual pattern: A hard hitting and soul stirring episode of her programme entitled "Can We Save Amina Lawa's Life?" will be screened on M-Net today during the channel's daily slot.
