Nigeria: Miss Nigeria 2002: Daily Times Disowns Chineye Ochuba

Lagos — The Daily Times of Nigeria Plc, the owners and organisers of Miss Nigeria since 1957 has called on the general public to resist from being deceived by the claim by one Miss Chineye Ochuba to the title of Miss Nigeria 2002.

Describing the claim as not only misleading but fraudulent, it advised the print and electronic media to resist the temptation of referring to Chineye or any person other than Miss Sylvia Ansa Edem as Miss Nigeria.

A press statement signed by the company's secretary and legal Adviser, Mr. Tam Tamunokobia, warned seriously that Miss Chineye Ochuba and her sponsors to desist form further laying claim to the title.

The statement added that the current and reigning Miss Nigeria, Sylvia Ansa Edem was crowned on March 24, 2002 in Lagos.
