A new book on the trafficking and proliferation of small arms in the ECOWAS sub-region will be presented to the public tomorrow, at the National War College, Abuja.

The 260-page book, entitled: Small Arms Proliferation and Disarmament in West Africa was written by Nnamdi K. Obasi, a Research Fellow at the college.

It examines the trafficking and proliferation of small arms in West Africa and highlights their implications for security, peace, democracy and development in the sub-region. The book also traces the evolution of the ECOWAS Moratorium, highlighting its provisions and the modalities for its implementation.

The presentation, which will take place at the main auditorium of the college will start at 10.30 a.m.

The ECOWAS Executive Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour, while a distinguished African scholar, Professor Okello Oculi, will review the book.
