Maputo — The Assembly of the Republic, the Mozambican parliament, passed on
Thursday a resolution approving the General State Accounts for the year
2000, against vehement opposition from the Renamo-Electoral Union coalition
which wanted the document sent back to the government.
The resolution, drafted by the parliament's Plan and Budget Commission,
was passed by 121 votes to 86 with two abstentions.
