Uganda: Museveni Back in Gulu

Kampala — PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has returned to his Gulu base after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Kenya's newly elected President Mwai Emilio Kibaki at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, reports Joyce Namutebi.

The President was received at Gulu Airstrip on Monday by the 4th Division Commander Col. Andrew Guti, his deputy, Col. Nathan Mugisha and the acting Commanding Officer of the Presidential Protection Unit, Maj. Hassan Kimbowa, a statement issued from State House yesterday said.

Museveni has for the last months been camped in Gulu to crash bandits of Joseph Kony's Lords Resistance Army.

Earlier, Museveni, Benjamin Mkapa, Levy Mwanawasa of Zambia and outgoing President Daniel arap Moi together with the Prime Minister of Rwanda and the first Lady of South Africa, witnessed the ceremony.
