Uganda: Killers Free, Says Book On Uganda

Kampala — MANY criminals responsible for the past atrocities in Uganda have escaped prosecution and some of them wander freely, Priscilla Hayner, an American human rights researcher has said.

In her 353-page book: 'Unspeakable Truths', which has just been published in the United States, Hayner said she was informed by former members of the formerHuman Rights Commission headed by Justice Arthur Oder, that "there are many known killers wandering freely in Uganda." The book is also to be published in Spanish next year.

Hayner is programme director for research and technical assistance at the US-based International Centre for Transitional Justice, which assists countries pursuing accountability for mass atrocities or rights abuse.
