Kampala — Operation Wembley soldiers have shot dead an engineer in Masaka district.
The second in command of Operation Wembley in Masaka, Moses Sserunkuuma claimed Jan. 7 that the deceased Mathias Ssentongo was trying to escape after showing the soldiers a gun he and others had allegedly been using to rob.
Ssentongo worked as Estates Officer at St. Henry's College Kitovu in Masaka.
Southern Regional Police Commander Benson Oyo Nyeko confirmed Ssentongo's death.
Ssentongo had just won a Shs 100m contract for construction of building at St. Pius Primary School Kitovu.
The residents allege that Sentongo was framed and killed because of jealousy.
Operation Wembley is commanded by Col. Elly Kayanja t rid the country of armed criminals.
