Ghana: How about productivity?

Accra — The prices of petroleum products have gone up. Other prices have also gone up as a result. Workers want more pay to catch up with the increases. We think that is only natural. The government has given indications that the tripartite negotiations would be fast-tracked this week and some new salaries and wages figures would be announced. Hopefully that would meet some, if not all the demands for pay increases.

ADM however wishes to caution that high pay without a corresponding improvement in productivity could backfire lethally on the economy, so, as workers agitate for more pay, their leaders and employers should also take up the productivity angle seriously.
