Nigeria: Afenifere Bars Aggrieved Members From Quiting AD

Abeokuta — THE Pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, yesterday barred its members dissatisfied with the Alliance for Democracy (AD) primaries from opting out of the party. Dissatisfied members, Afenifere said, should complain to a committee headed by SouthWest chairman of the AD, Chief Ayo Fasanmi, where it said justice would be done. Rising from an over three-hour meeting at the country home of its leader in Ijebu-Igbo, Chief Abraham Adesanya, the Afenifere said that any of its members that opted for another party would lose his membership of the group.

Briefing newsmen after meeting, Assistant Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sola Lawal, said Afenifere was satisfied with the primaries and that the grievances occasioned have not degenerated into members abandoning the AD.
