Nigeria: Nwachukwu Pledges to Give Education Priority

NATIONAL Democratic Party (NDP) Presidential candidate Senator Ike Nwachukwu has said that his administration would accord priority to education and dearth of infrastructure in different parts of the country if voted into power in the April 19 election. Senator Nwachukwu stated this when he paid a courtesy visit on the chairman of the Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers Council, Ezeogo (Dr) Agom Eze at his residence in Abakaliki. Senator Nwachukwu who arrived Abakaliki in company of some national officers of the party told royal fathers that he was in the state to receive the blessings of the traditional institution in the state to enable him have the home support of all segments of Igbo extraction in his presidential bid. He stated that "education which is the sub-structure on which the manpower development of the country depended would be accorded the highest priority and dearth of infrastructural facilities in different parts of the country seriously addressed." He stated that the unity of this country would not be compromised by the NDP administration assuring that his administration would not misuse the nation's resources.

Nwachukwu promised that the protection of properties and security of the citizens, lives would be intensified as well as accord respect for the rule of law and independence of judiciary maintained. He also promised that if given the mandate that the women folk in the country and youths alike would be accorded their rightful position in the policy programmes of the NDP administration.
