Nigeria: Reconstructing the Damages of Bomb Blasts

Lagos — One year ago, the bomb explosions at the Military Cantonment, Ikeja, armoury, which rocked the entire Lagos metropolis left tales of destruction on its trail. The Federal Government and its agencies have done nothing tangible to reconstruct some of the shattered structures except efforts by a frontline non-governmental organisation, writes Roland Ogbonnaya

On the afternoon of January 22, five days to the anniversary of the bomb explosions, that rocked Lagos, activities at the Military Cantonment, Ikeja, were at their peak. Military men in their smart uniform walk briskly from one office to another as other commercial activities go on within the environment. However, a few minutes drive further, brings back the memories of the destruction in the aftermath of the bomb blasts of Sunday January 27, last year. Some of the residential, office and school structures shattered by the explosions still stand reminding the authorities and agencies of the need to repair them.
