Nigeria: Anambra Chiefs Drag Mbadinuju to Obasanjo

MORE troubles came weekend for the embattled governor of Anambra State, Chief Chinwoke Mbadinuju, with the traditional rulers from his state dragging him to President Olusegun Obasanjo demanding that he should not be given the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the April elections.

Anambra Council of Chiefs bared their minds when they paid a solidarity visit to President Olusegun Obasanjo who assured them that PDP would not take their views for granted in resolving the issue of the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Anambra for the April general elections. At the State House Abuja demanding for a "complete change in the administration of Anambra State," the delegation of the traditional rulers led by Igwe C. Emeka told the President point blank: "we need a complete change in the leadership of Anambra State, and accused the state government of always pleading lack of funds as an excuse, to leave many affairs of government unattended to resulting in seeming collapse of virtually all government activities. The delegation, while assuring Obasanjo of their support and votes in the 2003 general election, called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to appraise the situation in the state "very critically, carefully but honestly."
