Kenya: Ministers Recall the Moments After Crash

Nairobi — Mr Raphael Tuju, the Information and Tourism Minister, and Mrs Lina Jebii Kilimo, Minister in the Office of the Vice-President, spoke at a press conference from Nairobi Hospital yesterday and recounted the moments after the crash. Doctors said the two would be out of the hospital in about three days.

Mrs Kilimo: "I heard people screaming from every direction. I was in front of Dr Wanjiru Kihoro. My seat came off and flew over hers. Then I was flung onto the aisle and there were seats all over me. I was the last person to communicate with Labour Minister Ahmed Khalif. I'm a Christian and at that moment I called on the name of Jesus. At that moment I remembered the biblical scripture that says 'Call upon me in the day of trouble and I will save you'. I called on the name of the Lord and I believe that is why our plane did not catch fire.
