For Workers Organisations the World over, including Nigeria, the challenges of the global economy are just as complex, perhaps more so. Again, the issues vary greatly from one country to another.

In many industrialized countries, for example, trade unions have been weakened by the extension of enterprise-level bargaining which has made it more difficult for them to sustain National Solidarity, and they have suffered from the expansion of the service sector, where they find it more difficult to organise.
