Ghana: Enhancing the Usefulness of the Mass Transport Buses

editorial

THE CONCESSIONARY fares announced for children boarding the mass transport buses are laudable. At least, the policy will reduce the burden of parents who have many children attending schools far away from their homes.

It should attract school going children who board mini buses in the rush hours of the mornings and evenings to swell traffic and thus abandon the smaller buses for the mass transport buses, which are bigger. The overall objective should be to increase the number of long buses in the cities and divert the mini buses to rural areas at the peripheries.
